Hi Jim,
I have drilled several headlight castings on SD40-2s and I found that a
dremel tool on the highest speed setting and a new bit work the best. Too much
heat other wise.

I completed lettering one of the Cryer Gray war production gons. Did
it in NYC lettering for the 1950 version when the cars wood sides
were rebuilt with steel. There is no direct lettering set for these
models so I used parts of two CDS dry transfer sets to get the job
done. Maybe I can post photos after the weekend.
I fell behind on my project to install Loksound decoders in the
Baldwin Shark 'B' units. Also fell behind in drilling out the
headlight castings on an SD40-2 to add bulbs for lighting. If anyone
has actual experience drilling these castings, I'd love a few
pointers...
