Jim,

You have discovered one of the neatest little tourist lines from my home
state! I rode the line as a kid and a few times as an older kid. It
was once narrow gauge. Later they added two seperate lines. After the
flood in the Black Hills they were back to one longer line I believe. I
rode behind a 2-6-2 tank engine the last time. This has never, been
mentioned in any old 'love' Gilbert books or even the Gaugian, but AF
installed a whole operating layout in a building next to the track in
Hill City. I assume it was one of their display layouts used in
department stores.

On the way back you should have stopped in to visit Alex Huff an S
scaler who also operates the Dakota Southern Railroad (1:1) out of
Chamberlin, S. Dak. Last I heard they were running a GP-30 and SD-7?
with assorted coloring.
