How about that Paul Dolkos series on Model Railroader a few years ago about
having standard accurate core-bodies for cars? I wish it could be adapted to
S. Not only do the A-M cars have a low-center roof contour, they are a scale
foot short!!. A few of us have inlaid Laser Horizons sides into A-M shells,
but Dennis had to dial his laser to 1:64.3 to get them to fit.
And while we are at it, let me dredge up another phase--corrugated sides for
passenger cars--pre-war and postwar, Budd and P-S, at least. Postwar P-s can
be hang-on panels, but pre-war sides would be the neatest if done
accurately--they look cut into the side of the car, and the letterboards are
half corrugated, half smooth. I could go on from there, but would just be
repeating myself from a couple years ago.
