I don't have a problem with cars of shorter length. I just want SOME of my cars to be 80' prototypical length. When I worked on the Santa Fe, they ran cars of all lengths together, and judging by vintage photos, other roads did as well.
I just think it looks especially cool to see those 80' prototypically correct, sleek cars snaking around a layout.
