I don't know whether I should mention this here, but . . . .
 
My remark lies in the category of  if only.  If only the tinplate manufacturers 
after the grand old days of AF had scaled down.  That is, I own no AF 
locomotives, but I hear that AF stuff will operate on Code #126 track.  If that 
is so, why not generally scale down the flanges and allow prototypical details 
and tolerances fairly close to the scale tolerances?   Perhaps I am wrong about 
this, but it would require that the AF crowd ditch their AF track and switches. 
 Therefore, my idea will remain a dream, a pleasant fiction.
