Not posting very often but I always enjoy reading the treads.

One major draw back of Sergent couplers that I don't think it has been
mentioned is it can't couple to Kadee 802 family and clones (SHS). The reason
is because of the almost 1:1 replica of the coupler. (I am not sure but I think
it can on HO 5's family)

The problem I have with this is I want my fine scale models (those that I like
to stairs at and photograph) to operate with the "normal" or fill-in models on
my layout that are equipped with 802/SHS. I personally think there could be
some compromises done to have a good looking coupler be able to mat with the
mass, not necessarily "operating" for automatic uncoupling/coupling but at
least to be able to couple them and run.

Don't get me wrong, my ideal view of model railroading would be a true 1:1
replica of models, tracks and scenery. If I had a million (and the time), I
would do it. However, the practical side of it is not it. I really liked pqr's
(John) post which put in perspective the true reality of MR (and the size of
the Rocky mountains that I miss down East).
