I'm trying to remember that old adage about having either black locomotives and 
red ink (on the balance sheet)--or is it red locomotives and black ink?

  Not quite....the NS locos are classy black with a white horse. The NYC 
  freight locos were classy black with white pinstripes. See the 
  similarity? Nothing like using dirty brown with imitation gold 
  stripes. Totally different world -- upscale vs. noscale. Although he 
  likes model railroading, he says playing with the real stuff is a lot 
  more fun. Currently working out of Asheville, NC on the night shift
