I believe most 40 foot and longer containers have what they call a tunnel 
under the front end (opposite from the door end) into which fits the 
gooseneck of the chassis.  There are apparently different standards for 
length & depth of the tunnel and matching gooseneck.  But on every one I've 
seen, the front end of the chassis, the gooseneck, fits right up in the 
tunnel so that it is virtually invisible when seen from the side  --  NOT 
the way the Tonkin chassis fits into the Tonkin container.
