Hi Jim....I hang around mostly with S and HO guys. I suppose the HO
guys could be considered "wrong", but they are not the cause of my
problems. They are quite reliable at delivering what they promise --
which is mainly to come over and help build a layout.

There is a fella in our local club who never buys any S item until it
is complete and finished and readily available. He will never pay an
advance deposit, but will willingly pay the full price when it is on
the shelf in the USA and ready to ship. He never has the problems I
have because he never orders anything in advance. He has the
attitude that if it arrives, that is fine. If it never shows up,
that is no big problem since no money or time was lost. He has
nothing to worry about.

At the other end of the spectrum, I tend to willingly buy expensive
toys from guys I've never met and barely know. It might not be
terribly smart, but I figure it encourages S stuff to be made that
might not be made any other way. So I get way out on a limb for this
stuff and, I suppose, should expect some unhappy moments on some
projects from time to time. The fellow who never pays advance
deposits will never have the kind of problems I have -- that's for
sure.

Actually, having a project being late is not really the issue
anyway. It is the total disregard for reasonable treatment of the
customer. The unwillingness to explain what is happening and what to
expect in the future is downright inconsiderate. The bums take money
and then expect you to have eternal gratitude even when they do not
deliver and offer no explanation. It just gripes me. And I thought
Rusty was the guy who was more bummed out than most. Guess I am
right there with him in the dumps.

Ranting and raving will get me nowhere. Gotta think of another way
to approach this. See y'all in the morning.

Cheers...Ed L.
