Hi Bob --

I can't agree more, but we have a hard time even getting all the standard
gauge (both scale and hirail) manufactures to the conventions. I know you
understand the costs of getting a business display to a convention. I
think the only way to encourage more business participation is to help
offset their costs rather than charging them for their space, as is the
current state of affairs for most venues. Where do you draw the line as
far as which business gets assistance? I would say assist manufacturers
(and importers) only, as they probably have the most expense and would draw
the most attendence (as a relative change). Re: narrow gauge
participation, one has to realize that they have two major conventions every
year already. Additionally, most of them cannot even begin to relate to
AF, so NASG conventions as I have seen them, hold ZERO interest.

So then the question is: are we ignoring them or are they ignoring US!

Happy New Year!

Part of our problem is that very few of the narrow gauge suppliers think
it's worthwhile for them to attend our convention. I haven't seen Bill
Banta for years (he certainly was close enough last year), never have
met Mr. Turner, or Jeff Smith, nor Ragg's and a few other companies that
make stuff that we can use.

It just seems that we're ignoring a good sized chunk of what we are!
