A passenger car kit, especially one that offered a basic core with the
purchaser's selection of specific prototype sides, or of sides that are close
to prototype. Walthers has done a very good job of creating railroad specific
passener cars in HO, offering the GN Empire Builder cars, Milwaukee Road Twin
Cities Hiawatha cars, and most recently the second NYC streamlined Twentieth
Century.
It would seem that HO could also profit from a basic core kit with railroad
specific sides, roof type, and window arrangement. I have heard that the NYC
cars are priced in the low sixty Dollar range and that for an HO car.
Our problem in S is that no core exists. Mark, do you have a ballpark figure
of what such a car kit would be? It certainly is an intriguing proposition.
