Hi John,

"Difficult" is a relative term, I guess. A simpler paint scheme than the C&O
would probably make the process easier. I have also stripped a Lackawanna F3-B
and the stripe left an impression or bump on the plastic that had to be sanded
off.

I would still recommend the undec version if it is available, but I don't
intend to discourage anyone from doing their own thing. I'm no expert, I just
want to have fun <g>.

it also leaves a shadow that has to be sanded smooth. The
alternative is to get a black undec for your purposes. I bought new
windows from SHS to replace the ones I had to remove, because it's
difficult to save them, but others have different methods.

  Roger:

Can you go into more detail on why the paint was difficult to
remove? One of my future projects is to beautify a NW2 with the SP
Tiger strip scheme and I may have to strip paint if I cannot
  purchase an undec version.

As I have mentioned on this list, I have had no problems striping
paint off SHS models. For example, I soaked a PRR F7B shell painted
in PRR __________ Brown (you NYC guys can fill in the colorful
adjective of yer choice <LOL>) overnight in 99% Isopropyl Alcohol
and the paint & lettering literally fell off with the aid of an old
tooth brush. I was left with a very clean painting surface.

  See you OSW+S!
