I'm confused by the title of this thread. 

If a shop owner's experience with S is limited to getting stiffed on custom 
orders he has little hope of selling to anyone but the original customer, and 
that he can't get a sufficient dealer discount to make money on any items he 
wishes to stock, how is he being ignorant? Do we suppose there is some large 
un-tapped market he can sell to if he'd just order some S? 

If you stock it, they will come?

I doubt it. The mall manufacturer's probably can't help their limited discount, 
but obviously S scale modelers are shooting themselves and the scale in the 
foot if they order from the LHS and then buy elsewhere to save a buck.

Given the content of the thread, (except for the shop the kicked the NASG prez 
out), it would be better titled "S Scale modeler ignorance or not?".
