For Darrell, There are small enough speakers available to fit in that boiler. There are sound units in N Scale locos. They don't tow S Scale cars for the speaker enclosure! It is just a question if you are happy with the sound produced in that size speaker.
In reference to Rusty's decoder Olympics... Has anyone here killed a Tsunami yet on motor amp overdraw installed to a single motor in an S locomotive? I have not head of anyone yet. We may run the unit a bit tighter then those in HO. I think I remember Ed L saying the Tsunami has an overload breaker, so it should reset. I say for the extra expense and especially the installation headaches put a Tsunami in until you use the smoke unit option.....
