There are several photos in this series, you can find them on Shorpy or the 
Library of Congress. Search on Jack Delano (the photographer) who took the 
images while working for a government related program.

It appears from several of the photos that C&NW RIP (Repair In Place) facility 
at Proviso yard had narrow gauge tracks with push carts for material between 
the repair tracks.
