Jim makes an excellent point about turnouts. My experience has been that a #6
from Shinohara is a totally different animal from a #6 from Fastracks. The
critical difference being the curved route closure rails. One has a sharp bend
over a short distance while the other has a much more gradual bend over a
longer
distance. Thus, the effective radius of the two turnouts are nowhere near
being
the same. Thus, the "radius issue" comes back to haunt us even if it is hidden
inside a turnout.
So which one has the more gradual bend over longer distance??
Thanks
