Gary,

First off kudos for using plastic storage containers for your trains.
One of the worst things to happen is something breaks whether it be a
water pipe or errant coffee cup and the liquids ruin some of your stuff
plus, you may not be aware of it until some time later. Also if your
prone to allergies those cardboard boxes harbor mold in damp
environments, not to mention the smell.

One of our Houston S Gaugers does have a layout about your size that's
been under construction for many years--truly under constructed LOL.
Anyway it is located in a garage so the layout is able to be stored
vertically against the garage wall. He uses a garage door spring
arrangement to facilitate that. His is plywood deck with typical 1 x 4
bracing I think. I've only seen it briefly a couple of times so I can't
give you more details.
