About 10 years ago about the same time SHS brought out their first PS
hopper, I did two version of their ads. One for the scale crowd and one
for the hi-rail bunch. We used different track and concepts. Although
I never did charge SHS near full rate, I did have to charge for the
extra work. And like the guy from NWSL, I dare anyone to come to my
studio when I was working on SHS's past catalogs (or any of my rr
clients) to see the hours of work and thought that went into those
projects.
When I got back into the hobby in the late 70's, I was surprised that
there still were active hi-rail people and then Lionel introduced that
first batch of repaints--all I could think about was... oh crap here we
go again, why doesn't hi-rail just go away and we become one! Since
model RRing is almost a religion, we've divided ourselves and subdivided
again to suit each little idea of the 'truth'!
