I have a further thought on the subject:
I think it's time for our primary manufacturers (SSA/DP, SHS, AM) to give
serious thought to packaging their rolling stock configured for scale, with
hirail couplers and wheelsets included in the box for hirailers to use. The
equipment could be advertised as "scale," with parts included for
screwdriver-conversion to obtain AF compatibility.
As I see it, this is the only way for these companies to survive in the long
run.
But I could be wrong. I've been wrong before...
