I cannot entirely fault the hobby shop owner, as most will also offer a 
consignment option, where the real seller gets a higher
proportion of the value, but where the seller wants to dispose of everything at 
once for cash (the dim brother-in-law again),
the buyer is assuming the risk of some items moving more slowly than others.

I have had a long-standing agreement with a good and knowledgeable friend that 
if either of us goes first, the other will help
the widow dispose of our holdings.
