While we're on the subject of the N&W, does anyone know where I can find out
what color a steel N&W cupola caboose from the late 40's to early 50's should
be? I've searched the web for pictures, but most from that era are B&W, and
don't tell what shade the cabooses were. Were they a bright red, more of a
Tuscan or Boxcar red, or were they more like the shade of red used on the
stripe down the side of the J's? Also, did the N&W use a contrasting color like
black on the caboose roofs, or were they the same color as the rest of the
body? I can't justify the cost of a $50 (or more) reference book just to paint
a model of a caboose.
Thanks,
Bill
