firms [ SHS, AM, DPH, etc.]these days unless you want to modify their
standard products to become scale compatible . . . . . . . . . . . .. I

This is erroneous with respect to American Models, Iron Rail Models, and
maybe some DPH items too. When one buys AM cars & locos, one specifys
high-rail or scale. They don't give you both types of wheels. I think the
ratio is something like 80-20.

. . . . I keep hearing of new clubs that are taking the hi-rail route for
their modular display layouts.. . . . . . . . . .

The Southeastern Michigan S Gaugers have a three track show layout with one
track running scale only and two tracks scale or high-rail, thanks to "Tom's
Turnouts" universal frogs.

. . . . . I don't recall hearing of any brand new S scale clubs (code 100
rail or smaller) in recent years with a sizeable scale modular display
layout.. . . . . . . .

Dave, Dale, & Terry of Owosso & Lansing Michigan have a good size strictly
scale layout.
