All --
I am beginning to research some electronic candidates to support a particular
kind of animation: Crossing gates and crossing flashers. I know that there
are
a lot of competing systems around, each with their purported advantages -- and
less-popularized disadvantages. The biggest obstacle that I see is the very
high cost of each installation. So far I'm looking at no less than $150 per
crossing, which I believe to be too dear a price to pay.
My requirements are for two separate but identical double-track installations.
The electronics (plus servos) must animate a pair of gates and a pair of
flashers. The animation must start and stop solely by detection of the
position
of a train as it moves across the road crossing in either direction on either
of
the two tracks.
If any of you have some good ideas, I'd love to read about them. Who knows --
your suggestions might eventually find their way into Model Railroad News.
No finger-actuated solutions, please.
