You could have also mentioned Dave Adam's wonderful On3 layout in your
"backyard" there in Los Gatos. His timetable operating sessions require water
stops at water tanks where the crew is required to lower the water spigot and
fill the tenders. The spigots raise and lower, and there is a nice tidy bowl
type flushing sound that accompanies the animation.
Likewise, the hostlers must coal the engines at the coal tower. I believe Dave
actually recorded coal being loaded on the one of the Silverton engines.
These sounds and animations are part of Dave's scale operations and really
enhance the operator's experiences.
Ed, you also forgot to mention the cool sound effects on your layout. However,
I not sure sound effects alone are "animation" and within the subject of this
topic, so I'll end here.
