Hi Michael, No it's a regular stanley No. 60 1/2 model low angle block
plane. I sharpen it very well and just use it on fine work.
The size helps keep a fair edge when joining splices. I lay the car body on
the workbench( actually on a thin spacer board to raise it up above the lower
edge of the plane blade ) and lay the plane on it's side to keep the joint
square while smoothing it with very fine shavings. These planes were designed
to cut the end grain of butcher blocks so plastic is not that much of a
challenge for them...dave
