A quick visit to my local HS to check inventory of my trees in stock
(I've got to make a bunch this weekend!) netted a copy of RMC with the S
gauge pullout.
I think as a first effort, it did fairly well with a fair amount of
display ads from firms who don't normally run ads. I was surprised that
PBL ran a full page ad along with a couple of smaller pieces. River
Raisin ran a half page ad, MLW services ran a couple of nice little
ads. Somebody (Carsten's themselves perhaps) built a little diorama
with a few structures along with a few photos similar to the "This is S
Gauge" from the past describing track, coupler and wheel flange sizes.
Unfortunately I didn't see anything from SHS, Railmaster nor any Smoky
Valley projects.
Besides the S article, there is a great little article by Tom Yorke
about using a Walthers little store kit (Pine Canyon in our case) to
make a great looking building with lot's of character--excellent work.
