From:Alan Lambert My idea should work on any car without sacrificing undercar detail.

If the SAL car is a go, Great! I'm all for it. As to the car's suitability for hi-rail, that's up to John and Jim. I am slightly puzzled though because I have assembled no car kits to date that could not be adapted to hi-rail operation. I refer to KINSMAN kits, PRS kits, AM kits, and Wayne Pier's #@&*#kTRAINSTUFF kits. I model in scale, however, and do not need to make the transformation. As far as I can tell, it could be done to the cars I have assembled. I think it could be done to a Smokey Mountain model as well. Yeah, perhaps some underbody detail would have to be omitted. I have Jim King's CG ventilated car, the Southern gon, and the B&O wagontop car. I will use them in scale operation, but a hi=rail adaptation is not out of the question for those cars, is it? Now to another point: I really do hope that John Degnan's SAL car is a go. If it is, then maybe Bud Rindfleisch and I can move our project of the Milwaukee Road ribbed box car along. Jim King at one time expressed interest in the car if we can get enough orders. Bud and I are still working on that and want no money down now, just names of the truly committed, those who are willing to march to the altar with a new bride, i. e., the Milwaukee Road box car. The car would have horizontal ribs going all the way to the ends and thus differ from the brass model produced some years ago. Just a thought: For now, let's get behind John and Jim's SAL car. We'll worry about the MILW car later. Tom [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
