Just looking at the ads for the hottest manufacturers in HO (ExactRail, True Line, BLMA, Rapido) the trend seems to be to highlight the incredible level of detail these manufacturers have achieved. Overall beauty shots and close-ups of fine details. Emphasis on details specific to individual roads or even individual car numbers. Also, consider PBL in Sn3 who has taken on the task of updating and refining the already considerable detail in his models. They now sell cars which match specific photographs. The trend is certainly moving in the direction of scale and hyper attention to detail. S should follow suite in its advertising or risk falling even farther behind the pack.
