I used bent posterboard, plastered with tinted joint compound- the
premixed stuff in the plastic tub. It's the same material I used for most
of the rockwork.
Though you probably want to paint the final
results, adding black waterbased paint to the material (for a gray tint)
prevents white flecks from appearing when the inevitable chips
occur.
