Never needed one; all these years I just hold the coupler shank in the 
draftgear and insert the spring, using the point of an Exacto knife (works in 
all scales).
I also generally melt the edges of the draftgear when everything is together 
with the tip of my soldering gun; for O scale metal draftgear (not a problem in
S scale, as there isn't the option) I use a bit of ACC to secure it.
