Hi James --
Liquid plastic glues will work with the draft gear boxes, but I find I can’t
keep them from seeping into places they don’t belong. I always felt the Kadee
802/808 couplers were the easiest to work with of all the Kadee products, and I
rarely need to use anything other than a screwdriver for both the spring and
the screws.

What I use is a cross-lock tweezer used in electrical and jewelry soldering to
hold the Kadee box and coupler shank together while I place the spring with a
needle & thread. Haven't lost a spring in quite a while. I also seal the box
with a soldering iron (hint on this list) as I think the box is made of delrin
and had no luck with glues holding; although the current discussion about
delrin glues may solve that problem. Really dumb question; other than this
being some kind of right of passage, why are these kits and not complete
couplers?
