I understand that for the most part in the tech business which sound units
really are, you are either moving forward or you are getting passed. I am
currently pretty happy with the Tsunami. Truth be told I am not that into
sound units even though I am putting them into most of my brass engines. It
will be interesting to see what I am going to do once I have my layout up
with a lot of locos sitting. I am almost sure I am going to use the
auto-mute feature.

In my mind the direction Soundtraxx should go is make higher amperage units.
I have been brutally blunt in that respect with them MANY times since first
meeting them at the NMRA Convention in Phila in 2006. So it is 5 years and
no bigger amperage units. The O Scale market is almost barren unless you
want to go the 2 decoder route which I now refuse to install for anyone. The
things I could do with a SMALL 4 amp Tsunami...I did install one 4 amp
LokSound unit in an O Scale NYC H10. It was truly **massive** in size. I did
not think the sound was all that good either.

I know that the QSI unit is/was rated at 2 amps. I installed 1 QSI so far. I
found the programming to be unnecessarily complex. The fact that the new QSI
unit will have stereo sound, can use 2 speakers and can upload your own
sounds are of no attraction for me. I might change my mind a bit once I hear
one, but I doubt it.

Bill Lane
