Well, I'm not under 55, but my very earliest memory is sitting on my uncle's lap on his back porch up on a hill in NW Connecticut. At the bottom of that hill were the Shepaug RR tracks and the local RR station. I can still visualize a steam engine sitting by the station, smoking away. The station is still there....though now a laundry or some such business.....but the tracks and trains are long gone. Anyway, my point here is that's my earliest memory of anything in my life....and my uncle died when I was 2 years old !
