Jace:

You will need entire truck assemblies, as the AM trucks have a longer
wheelbase. Scale sideframes only won't fix it.

Like I said: I'm beginning to think I'll live with the "modify and make do"
approach. Either that, or I'll continue to do without.

Subject: {S-Scale List} AAR Sideframes (was AM Repower Question

The other option that occurs to me is the old Locomotive Workshop
white-metal AAR sideframes, as in the set of switcher
trucks Tom Lennon currently has listed on ebay. A pair also came with the
second Miller Alco with Beveridge/Cascade
drive I bought; I hoped to replace them with Railmaster Blunt sideframes,
but on enquiry was told the molds for the
truck sideframes also have castings for other parts of the kit and are not
available separately (which would also apply
to their AAR sideframes). I DID get a set of the Blunt sideframes from Dick
Karnes who had them left over from another
project, so I have been trying to fit those to the Cascade drive (some very
minor dimensional problem that I have yet
to figure out).
