Ming, Forget about Buck Rogers and ruling the universe. You're much better at modeling a DS 4-4-1000.

"Bwhahahaahhahahhaaa! (Evil laugh in the background. Then the announcer says in his best Ronnie Radio voice...) As Ming The Merciless dementedly continues to obsess and slave over the diabolical plot to create Frisco DS-4-4-1000 #241 out of an AM S-12... will the innocent Dale be able to escape his evil clutches this time while Ming is preoccuppied with his madness???" Wow... that sounded pretty cool. Wish I would've seen that episode. Anyway... Coming along on my current project. Thought I'd post pics. (Signed glossy 8x10's available for a small fee.) This round is still a round of crappy pics... but at least they're not as crappy as in as crappy as the crappy pics posted before. (Whoa... that's a lot of crap.) First up is a simple workbench pic. I tried to include the cab window template I'm making for when I do a "windowed" version of a DS-4-4-1000, as well as the modified and ready to be drilled "Y" hand rail brackets for the ends. http://www.vscalecreations.com/3rail/SLSF241b.jpg Next is a pic of the engine on the layout. Seems my lighting attempts are marginally better over on the layout. http://www.vscalecreations.com/3rail/SLSF241c.jpg Lastly, here's a comparison photo illustrating the different modifications made thus far to turn an S-12 into a DS-4-4-1000. http://www.vscalecreations.com/3rail/SLSF241d.jpg If you'll look closely, you'll see my falsies in all of the above. (Are they showing?) In all, I'm becoming more pleased as S-12 things are removed and DS-4-4-1000 things are added/etc. I think the little AM Baldwin is turning out to be quite a little gem to work with and we're fortunate to have it available! However, I shudder when I think of exactly HOW I'm going to fit a decoder and speaker w/encloser in this thing. Reckon' I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
