Andre, So you will have to fashion the front and back hand rails yourself, no commercial parts available for that?

Change of plans. Didn't have to leave. It's amazing that my Ming The Merciless silliness gets more action than my posting of modeling notes and pics! Ah well... agreed, the ol' DS project ain't much to look at right now, and my pics ain't the best, for sure. Once I post this, I think I'm going to roll my chair over to the hobby bench and start drilling holes and bending wire for handholds and handrails. That's a longer and more tedious process sometimes than the hackin' n' gougin' part. Need a new dial caliper, though... mine pretty much got ruined a while back by a sneaky oozing tube of 5 minute epoxy. One of two indgredients got into the gear rails. I can still move it... but something like 20 ft lbs of torque is required. Doesn't lend itself easily to fine precision measuring for some reason. Epoxy goop in the wrong places is like, 'ya know.
