That was really all I intended when I strayed into S scale: perhaps one SHS EMD
and a dozen cars. Then I stumbled across the Miller Alco with Cascade drive,
and bought the PA Historical 44T. Since which I've added four other EMD's,
another Miller (for which I am trying to adapt Railmaster Blunt sideframes), a
BTS
Ma&Pa 2-8-0 kit, then a Smoky Mountain 70T kit, two SHS 2-8-0's (I intended
just the one, found one at a good price and then stumbled onto a second at an
even better price)... You see where this is going? (or gone)
I was really impressed just the other week when I paid a fast visit to Dave
Hamilton's basement in the Twin Cities and admired his switching operation,
which
occupied a good-sized room (just what I had envisioned for myself, or even a
bit more than I could have wished for), but the entire rest of an extensive
floor
plan was filled with an HO railroad which would have done credit to most clubs
and which requires a full operating crew. Except my other car, er, railroad, is
in O scale, a point-to-point shortline with enough switching at each end to
make things interesting. Still pretty much armchairing for me, so far.
