Andre....
My view, which you may not care for, is that you worry too much about what
others will think. Model railroading is a hobby to be enjoyed and I would
suggest that you do what you enjoy regardless of how anyone else feels about
it. All the time and effort and concern you devote to asking others what you
should do would be better spent building models and a layout and enjoying your
hobby.
Unless, of course, your real hobby is conversing on the internet. In that
case, you are right on target.
