Jonathan, Funny you should mention the scanning & prototype casting. We are considering getting started in this field in a few months. Perhaps this group would like to have us work for them, huh? Dave LBR Enterprises, llc

You know, when you are finished with the hybrid shell you could send it out to a company that has a 3D scanner to get it scanned in and converted to a CAD file that could then be sent to a Rapid Prototype machine. I'm not sure what the cost would be, or the legal ramifications but that would be all you need to start low volume production of the new improved shells. Probably not legally possible, but it would be cool. I'd be in for a PA or two and a couple FA shells as well. Well done! I don't have a need for a PA on my layout, but I WILL want an FA1... EVENTUALLY. So, at some point in the future I decide it's time for an FA1, the AM undec FA2 sitting on my shelf (or another purchased for the occasion) will likewise hit the chop shop. I think fellow carbody freaks would understand. THEN there's the F unit nose/window fetish... but that's another story left told another time.
