Isn't it interesting, ones perspective on the FA2 offered by AM? Having
crawled around and looked at FPA4 and ex-L&N FA at the Portola Railroad museum,
I felt the nose was pretty darn close on the FA2 offered by AM. The ex-L&N
unit came from the Long Island Railroad so the roof was highly modified in
areas and not worth the time for detailing a true FA2. The FPA4 from VIA/CN
was pretty intact for details. Sadly for me, those units have moved onto new
homes. Good really since they are still available to see. The FPA4 and FPB4
ended up on the Grand Canyon Railway and the run pulling passenger trains as
they were intended. The Long Island cab car went to a museum back east, maybe
even to L&N country and last I heard was going to get a donor engine and
generator to become a real FA2 again. But the talk of nose, windshield shape
and such reminds me of the discussion of the EMD F units. No two units were
exactly alike. I'm thinking Alco FA's of all ilk suffer from the same fate to
some degree. Also how many people are influenced by the FA Lionel made in O27?
I know I am, since that was my first diesel.

But at least this is a new topic thread that can take its place in the list of
items to rehash. :)
