Bill,

Thanks for the kind words! I have just caught up on the recent postings and
see that there has been a bit of discussion about the choice of track and wheel
profiles on my BC&G. Thanks to the several folks familiar with my layout who
offered their understanding of 'how I got where I am'. Actually, when I
started my current layout in 1997, I was using Consolidations that I had built
from AF 0-8-0s because Consolidations are what the prototype BC&G ran. While I
rebuilt the drive trains (can motors etc.) I didn't want to go to the trouble
(nor did I have the skills!) to replace the drivers. My primary focus was to
get the layout built so I could get operations started. So when I started the
layout, I selected American Models track...the best looking flex track and
turnouts available at the time that would accommodate the AF flanges on my
Consolidations. By the time SHS came out with their fantastic Consolidations,
my track was 100% laid and so it wasn't a matter of converting wheels on
rolling stock, it was a matter of not wanting to relay all my track! In the
end, I've never regretted staying with the AM track as it makes for 'bullet
proof' reliability, mechanically and electrically, during operating sessions.

For those who may be interested, within the next couple of weeks I will be
releasing a 100+ page, softbound, full-color book on my 35 years in "S".
Titled "MODELING THE BUFFALO CREEK & GAULEY RAILROAD - Capturing the Character
of An Historic Shortline On An "S" Gauge Model Railroad", the book traces my
researching the BC&G and building layouts depicting it. Included is an
explanation of my evolution from tin plate to whatever you want to call what I
now have. There are over 130 prototype and layout photos including 45 new
color photos of my layout, including some of sections never before published,
how I build structures and tips on layout photography. There will be an ad in
an upcoming DISPATCH and on my website, www.buffalocreekandgauley.com. I can
say more about the book on this chat site if there's interest and if it's
appropriate.

Happy modeling...with any wheel on any track!

Brooks
