I watched the sunrise over the Firth of Tay. Quite impressive. Had ridden a night train. Got off at Dundee with my bicycle, It was pitch black except for one light bulb hanging over the platform. After waiting for daylight I went into town. Had a "workmans breakfast" in a tiny , very plain little cubbyhole type restaurant. Do not know if it was real Dundee Marmalade with it, (I was raised on it). "biken and aigs" I then got the next train back to Edinborough riding in the rear vestibule with the brakeman. That Forth bridge is astonishing,
The first Forth bridge collapsed due to the weight of the rivets which had not been calculated. This was the same thing that happened to the 2nd Montreal RR bridge. The chief engineer of the final (successful) Montreal bridge roomed where I did when I first moved to Cleveland. Great stories.
