Kudos to our moderator for the rapid and appropriate response when things got
out of bounds... nuff said...
On a real model railroading subject, I have often thought about trying to mount
twin motors, one on each engine of an articulated; either the 2-6-6-2 or the
Allegheny. It would take a degree of machining that is beyond my skill level,
but I believe is a "doable" project. Imagine each motor with a sound decoder
emitting independent sounds and the steam chuff getting out of sync when one
engine slips... almost makes me want to improve my machining skills!!
While I agree that no two motors are going to run exactly the same, I believe
high quality motors are close enough to match pretty well. If they did not,
mu'ing two or three diesels would be pretty ugly. I have seen decoders that do
not play well in each others sandbox though. I recall at DPV we could not get
a Lenz Gold back EMF decoder to play together in a consist of like diesels, the
others having NCE decoders. The Lenz units are good decoders, I've just
reserved them for units that likely will not consist - small steam and diesel
switchers.
