Hi Ed,
Where in the world have you been over the last year? Haven't you read all the
posts I've made about having solved the centering issue with Sergent couplers?
On top of that, I am planning to introduce a new, closer-to-scale sized gear
box WITH a centering spring once (if) the new Sergent comes out. Take a look
at the link below and tell me what you think! :
http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/SScaleModelingProjects.htm
Click on the third link on that page, or just use the link below :
http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/SScaleGearBox.htm
There is a VIDEO on that page showing how the finished product will work (it is
shown in a standard KADEE gearbox, NOT one of my new ones).
So all you will need is a short stretch of straight track (about 85 scale feet
worth) to ensure a fool-proof coupling... every time.

Subject: Re: {S-Scale List} Sergent Engineering
Having experimented with the HO version in Sn2, I love the ease of uncoupling
using their magnetic wand. But Sergent's have one serious drawback that
prevents me from committing to using them. While it's easy to misalign the
couplers to drop them inside a building, it's impossible to realign them once
in the building to pick the car up without dragging the it out manually first.
I also have a hidden staging track that requires blind coupling. A centering
spring would solve the problem.
