After a 2 week work stoppage (due to travels) the track gang finished the cabin
track and installed the switch for the coaling tower on Saturday.  Wired the
track in the evening, broke for grub, and tested the new track after dinner.
Big Smiles to see trains run on new track (bigger when we encountered no shorts
or derailments)

now off to hobby shop to get more Caboose Industries ground throws and ballast
material.  May end up at pet store to get ground up walnut shells to use for
ballast like Peter Vanvliet uses.

I AGREE WITH DAN VANDERMAUSE's idea to grow up and FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE
ASPECTS and PROVIDE HELP to those with questions.

Subject: {S-Scale List} A Modest Proposal

Whenever I sign on to the Yahoo Groups area, I check the volume of posts for
the S-scale group. When the volume exceeds 200 to 300 for the week, I know
there is a wacky discussion going on -- something on the order of "what we need
is" or "what is wrong is" or "in my opinion", etc., etc.

There is a lot of great modeling going on out there in S-scale land, but it all
gets drowned out by the waves of postings about not much at all.

Here's a modest proposal for the group and for the moderators: Why don't we all
as a group try to post only messages about actual modeling activity, modeling
techniques, questions about modeling techniques, searches for a model or part,
etc. FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK?

This will have to be self-moderating, but let's see as a group if we can focus
on the fun of S-scale model railroading for just one week.

Just a thought.

By the way, sometime in the last few weeks, there was some discussion about
reviving the 3/16 SIG in the NMRA. This sounds like a worthwhile idea, but I
can't find the post of the person looking for recruits.
