I think I did mine like yours to adjust to the lettering..it makes a nice 
looking different car for sure..

  Yes, John Hall published an article in S Gaugian on building the Reading USRA 
mill gons, including the ones cut down as flat cars for hauling steel 
components to the Golden Gate bridge construction.

  His version was the correct length, but didn't have the right number of ribs 
and panels. Mine is too long, but the panel count is right. Since the Reading 
car has lettering in every panel, I think the number of panels is more 
critical. You might agree with John that you want the length correct. If you 
cut each panel/rib apart and narrow them, you could have both correct - no way 
I plan to do that, maybe if I had a milling machine.
