The Kadee 802 couplers frustrated me until my HO modeling friend told me about
a way to deal with that pesky spring. He recommends placing a dapple of
silicon cement--available at any hardware store--on the rear of the open area
of the coupler shank. Then with an exacto knife or similar instrument, gently
attach the spring to the rear of the open area where you previously place a
dapple of silicon. Let it sit for a short time and then complete the assembly.
The method has always worked for me.

That said, I'll use up my stash of 802 Kadees and then return to Kadee #5
couplers. Walthers offers some Kadee lookalikes, and maybe I'll order a stash
of them. I have heard they are a little larger than are the Kadee #5s. What
has the experience of others been with the Walthers couplers?

Tom
