At one time the Nimco conversions pretty much handled a 'reasonable'
conversion to scale sized flanges. I have a 'Heinz 57 version of a
Hudson', which is a story in itself, but Jack Troxell helped me to put
Nimco wheels on the engine. An older non-can Pittman motor was the
power source. Not up to today's standards but the Nimco drivers had one
thing going for themselves--the wheels were automatically quartered
because the axles were notched to fit the notched driver.

I would think, if one were to make up the proper drivers, mating it with
a proper gearbox and a mounting method you could have a really good
running engine. Whether it would be a feasible financial investment
might be another question.
