What really matter is the number of scale sales in all scales. S is just a
subset of the scale modeling universe. The only reason S is not selling like
HO or N scale is there is not enough scale stuff made.Scale modelers love the
size of S scale they just don't like the supply and demand equation.Look how
comparatively well O scale sells with just a decent supply and demand ratio and
a size that's hard to fit into the typical layout space. S scale has just been
under supplied for whatever reasons so it has never reached critical mass.
Comparing or associating it with the success of flyer is useless and a non
issue in the S scale sense, no more relevant than comparing three rail O toy
