I recall some modelers in HO cut apart the brass horn castings to reposition 
the horn bells with soldier. Not necessarily easy, but a solution none the less.

done in other materials.I gather from HO modelers that the nasty
language level is fairly high during assembly, but it's workable- I've
used some of the pieces myself.  S scale parts should be a little easier
